Entering Italy from abroad

Travellers entering Italy must fulfil one of the following requirements upon entry:

  • a negative test result (PCR or antigen test, not older than 48 hours, children under six years are excluded), or
  • a vaccination with an EMA-approved vaccine completed at least 14 days ago, or
  • proof of recovery from COVID-19.

Entry must be made via an online form. Only in cases where online registration is not possible for technical reasons, the entry declaration (in Italian) can be submitted in paper form.

Transport to Sardinia and Sicily

From 01.09.2021, the same requirements apply for embarkation to Sardinia and Sicily as already apply for entry to Italy:

  • a negative test result (PCR or antigen test, not older than 48 hours, children under six years are excluded), or
  • a vaccination with an EMA-approved vaccine completed at least 14 days ago, or
  • proof of recovery from COVID-19. zoning.

This does NOT apply to persons who are excluded from the vaccination campaign due to their age and to persons who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons and according to the indications of the public health department. The latter must have a certificate of exemption from vaccination issued by an approved health facility.
